Zuora is proud to announce the company has been named one of the “Analytics 50” for its Subscription Economy® Index™ (SEI). First issued in November of 2016, the SEI was conceptualized by CEO Tien Tzuo and created by Chief Data Scientist Carl Gold to measure the collective health of subscription businesses and track the impact of these businesses on the overall economy. The SEI revealed that subscription businesses grew revenues nine times faster than S&P 500 company revenues and four times faster than U.S retail sales over 15 consecutive quarters (January 1, 2012 to September 30, 2016). Since then, the SEI has been released new data quarterly to update the world on the state of the Subscription Economy and its revenue growth. It has been covered by publications including Forbes in the US, Le Monde in France, and The International Business Times in the UK among others.

A growing number of organizations are investing in big data initiatives and advanced analytics, but just what is meant by advanced analytics, or next generation analytics, is changing. Next generation analytics is evolving along with business needs, and today means cloud-based, collaborative and multi-entity applications.
The evolution has been rapid, notes Paul Jensen, interim dean for Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, but there are clear leaders in the use of next generation analytics to solve business problems.
In 2011, Gartner named next generation analytics as the most important upcoming technology on the horizon. Just six years later, that prediction feels as quaint as the BlackBerries that were popular at the time. Today, data analytics courses through every major company and research institution in the country.
That’s why Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business – in an effort to strengthen the partnership between academia and industry – is announcing 2017’s top analytics innovators in the nation: the second annual Analytics 50. The initiative spotlights best practices and recognizes organizations using analytics to solve business challenges.
“We’re proud to recognize distinction in analytics among this diverse group of impressive organizations,” Jensen says. “The Analytics 50 is a powerful way to honor business solutions and to strengthen the intersection of academia and industry. From agriculture and law enforcement to manufacturing and government, the list of 2017 honorees spotlights organizations such as Southwest Airlines, Pabst Brewing Co., The Dow Chemical Company and the Seattle Police Department, all of which have tackled complex issues using analytics.
Honorees were selected by a panel of researchers and practitioners who judged nominations based on the complexity of the business challenges they faced, the analytics solutions implemented, and the solutions’ business impact on the organization. This year’s winners will convene in Philadelphia on Nov. 2 for an awards ceremony on Drexel University’s campus.
